What is chiropractic

A chiropractor is a primary health care professional (which means that you can visit a chiropractor without a referral from a doctor).

The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationships in the body between structure and function. Chiropractic treatment works by using gentle adjustments to stimulate control centres of the spinal cord and nervous system to improve joint alignment and spinal control. The term ‘chiropractic’ is a general term which means literally translated from latin means, ‘practice with the hands’. The term refers to a wide variety of different techniques utilized by these practitioners to restore normal biomechanics and therefore function to joints in the body. All registered chiropractors are university trained.

Spinal misalignments that are left untreated can cause an imbalance of muscle surrounding the spine. Over long periods of time this spinal imbalance can cause a weakening of the spinal joint and this is what leads to degeneration and arthritis which leads to pain and stiffness. Chiropractic treatment is a very effective way to prevent this cascade of events from occurring.

Our chiropractors place a very high priority on prevention and wellness and like to focus on educating their patients to this end. How we work ...

We use a combination of different techniques, most of which are gentle and are suitable to every age group. All of our techniques are aimed at gently adjusting the spine, releasing areas of tight muscles and improving the balance of muscles around the spine and of the whole body. The treatment can be as gentle or as firm as you like, we know how to achieve results either way. All of our treatments are done fully clothed so no need to worry about getting undressed!

Dr. Felicity Ede

Dr. Felicity Ede

Felicity attended Macquarie University, where after 5 years of study she completed a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and Masters of Chiropractic degrees. Since graduating from her Chiropractic degrees Felicity has been continuing her education by attending courses and seminars on techniques such as Activator Methods, Dry Needling and Sacro-Occiptal technique, and on topics including Headaches, Low Back Pain and Paediatrics. Felicity uses a range of Chiropractic techniques, however primarily chooses the more gentle techniques with less manual manipulation, depending on each individuals condition and needs.

Felicity is passionate about working with people of all ages, from children to the elderly, to assist them in achieving their health goals and wellbeing, recognizing that every individual is unique. Felicity believes in the importance of a holistic approach to health, and will educate and happily give advice to her patients on lifestyle, diet and exercise. In her free time outside of clinic.

Felicity enjoys getting involved in sports and activities including going to the gym, tennis, yoga and music, and she is also a piano teacher. 

Dr. Anita Russo

Dr. Anita Russo

Anita completed her studies in chiropractic at Macquarie University. She has since worked alongside a mix of principal chiropractors gaining a variety of clinical experience, including a one year locum in rural NSW.

She has become drawn to the more gentler chiropractic techniques, and has completed extra studies in Sacra-Occipital technique, Neuro-Impulse adjusting and Neuro-Kinetic Therapy, all of which aim to treat and balance the spine without using manual manipulation. She is particular interested in movement patterns and works closely with her patients to ensure muscles are activating correctly. She also has a special interest in treating children and works closely with the clinic's kinesiologist to ensure that her young patients are functioning at an optimal level of health. She is always happy however to deliver the traditional adjustment to those who will benefit from it and will always tailor to the individuals needs.

Anita believes whole heartedly in the concept of addressing health concerns from a holistic approach and will always educate her patients on lifestyle, diet and exercise.

She has a very strong belief in the importance of taking good care of your body and mind and will educate her patients on this where ever possible. She routinely practises yoga and meditation, and is a keen runner and cycler.
